Frequently Asked Questions
We care for your pet as if they are our own!
Is it safe to leave my keys with Paws N Claws and do I have to?
At Paws N Claws we will always keep your keys and your address separately so as to not put your home at risk. Yours keys are kept safe with no reference to your address or name on them. We will cater a pet sit plan to suit your needs, so sometimes access to inside your home is not needed as your pets may reside solely in your backyard and as long as we can access this then we are happy to do so.
How and when do I pay for the pet sitting and dog walking?
All pet sitting services are to be paid in full at least 5 days prior to you going away. All dog walking services are to be paid in advance and can be paid weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You can pay by bank transfer, debit or credit card or cash – details will be on your invoice.
What if my pets get sick or injured?
At Paws N Claws, when we arrange to pet sit your pet we obtain your vet details and we will endeavour to take your pet to your nominated vet or our local vet if yours is unavailable. Be assured we will always contact you first and advise of any illness or injury then take them to the vet for treatment, as always we have your pets’ best interest at heart. We will then continue to keep you updated on their progress. Obviously in an emergency your pet will be taken straight to the vet for immediate treatment. Please ensure we have an emergency contact for you at all times.
Why use a professional pet sitter like Paws N Claws and what to look for when booking a pet sitter for your holidays!
Many people do pet sitting as a hobby without a National Police Clearance Check or Pet Sitter Liability insurance, we at Paws N Claws endeavour to ensure you leave on holidays knowing both your home and pets are in our safe, caring, professional and capable hands. Look for a pet sitter who has many years experience caring for all pets and has been in business at least 2 years and has an ABN. This way you know they are not likely to be picking up, packing up and disappearing soon. Not having insurance means if your pet is injured or causes an accident whilst being minded then you the owner will be liable. Ensure your sitter has all services that you require – do you need your pet minded overnight, daily or in the sitter’s home or yours? Will they walk my dog, give medications, clean my cat litter and poop scoop my yard, bring in mail, close blinds, water plants as part of a daily charge or are any of these additional charges? Paws N Claws do all this for a daily pet sit fee! Do they provide a free ‘meet and greet ‘ prior to booking? Ask for testimonials and ask if you can contact these clients direct, easy for people to pop up a testimonial on a page ,talk with the pet sitters’ current clients, I know how happy our clients are so we would be happy for you to do this. Ask to view the National Police Clearance certificate. Look on websites for information advising they have these in place. Do they have a great client referral program in place? We get many repeat clients and many referrals and this is positive proof we are doing the best for your pet.
Why do you insist on a "meet and greet" first?
At Paws N Claws we will arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss your individual pet sit plan with you and meet and get to know you and your pets. Your pet needs to be happy and feel safe in our company. Gaining our trust is equally important, this way you are reassured when you are on holidays knowing your pets are content.
